The Burlington Macdonald hotel is a historic luxury hotel situated right in the heart of Birmingham city centre amid the impressive architecture surrounding New Street. The hotels ideal location offers an oasis of luxury within the vibrant and culture-rich city which is home to impressive shopping outlets, an array of bars and restaurants and plenty of entertainment at your leisure.

After hearing that each room has its own individual features we were very intrigued to see what our suite was like. After walking through the door that we were pleasantly surprised that we could walk in and turn a corner without even being able to see the bed! The room was so spacious as it had a separate lounge area that instantly made you feel homely. The room had air conditioning, bathrobes, slippers and two large flat screen digital TV's. One was positioned on the wall opposite the couch and one opposite the bed which made you feel spoilt for choice! The bed had the most beautiful headboard and linen bedding which was extremely soft. It was very tastefully decorated, modern and contemporary even down to the details whether it was the pictures on the walls or the crystal water glasses on the table. The en suite bathroom was beautifully tiled with marble and had a noticeably large deluxe shower space with a waterfall shower.

Refreshed for dinner we headed to the restaurant where we were greeted by our waiter Jonathan for the night who deserves a special mention for his outstanding service. Accompanied by a glass of prosecco I ordered three courses, starting with Ox cheek risotto, fried egg and truffle oil. For main the Confit duck leg, parsley mash, white beans and thyme jus. And finishing with dessert the chocolate and cherry terrine with vanilla ice cream. In between courses the chef sent out a couple of bite size specials for us to enjoy whilst we waited which was a nice touch. All in all the food was incredible and I would definitely recommend eating there whilst staying. My favourite dish must have to be the risotto, definitely the best i've had.

For breakfast in the morning the bar area was set up for juices, cereals and pastries. We opted for a full Macdonald english breakfast for the perfect end to our stay. If you are looking for accommodation for a city break, romantic weekend, or business stay this charming and victorian venue is the perfect luxury stay.
